A special match-making event featuring province-wide key embodied-AI robot manufacturers engaging with the shipbuilding industry, hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, was held in Jingjiang recently. Bringing together executives of key shipbuilding enterprises and offshore engineering equipment manufacturers, key robot manufacturers and local supporting companies for robots from across the province, the event served as an industrial platform for targeted exchanges and practical cooperation to advance the integrated development of the embodied‑AI robot industry and the shipbuilding and offshore engineering equipment industry.

Participants paid on‑site visits to local dock platforms and smart block‑assembly workshops to get a first‑hand impression of shipbuilding. During the supply‑demand exchange session, six general-assembly enterprises for ships and offshore engineering equipment, including New Times Shipbuilding company and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, released demand lists for embodied‑AI robots separately, and eight robot complete‑set and supporting enterprises presented robot solutions adapted to ships’ working conditions in various operations. Suppliers and demand sides conducted in‑depth exchanges and match-making on the application scenarios of welding, painting and cabin inspection robots.

Zhang Xing, Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, expressed that coordinated industrial development requires all parties to identify their respective roles. General‑assembly enterprises for ships and offshore engineering equipment should define their needs for different scenarios, and robot manufacturers provide solutions, with both sides enhancing coordination as industrial partners. A regular match-making mechanism needs to be established to foster a sound ecosystem featuring demand raised by the shipbuilding industry and supply improved by smart equipment manufacturers. Competent departments such as Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology will continue to build platforms and establish mechanisms to boost integration between embodied‑AI robot manufacturers and shipbuilding enterprises and offshore engineering equipment manufacturers, striving to deliver  a number of influential signature achievements.
