Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology released the results of the province-wide recognition of first-batch new materials for 2026, with 60 high-tech new-material products successfully selected.
Following the recognition of 33 products in 2025, this is another concentrated round of quality innovative material achievements rolled out by Jiangsu, effectively removing the bottlenecks of the new materials industry, which has suffered from “no materials to use, materials that are hard to use, and good materials that enterprises dare not use”, and consolidating the material foundation for building the province’s “1650” industrial system (16 advanced manufacturing clusters and 50 key industrial chains).
The selected products target core areas of high-end manufacturing and are widely applied in such fields as semiconductors, aerospace, new energy and biomedicine.
The list includes 16 electronic information materials, 12 new energy materials, 11 aerospace materials and seven high-end equipment materials, among others.
All the products represent major breakthroughs in technical parameters and performance indicators, feature a high degree of independent innovation, and effectively fill the material gaps along key industrial chains.
According to the department, the recognition applied high-standard admission criteria: the selected products have reached technological levels that are domestically leading and internationally advanced, hold independent intellectual property rights, and have all passed tests by authoritative institutions at or above the provincial level, effectively dispelling concerns over market application.
Jiangsu has simultaneously put in place a package of supporting policies, including procurement for innovation, exemption from bidding and tendering requirements, special fund support and industrial fund investment, to boost the industrialization of new materials across the board.
Going forward, the department will continue to leverage the guiding role of the recognition, remove the bottlenecks from R&D to application of new materials, and strengthen and improve industrial chains through the supply of innovative materials.
