On the morning of June 28, an event was held to mark the commencement of operations of the high-performance carbon fiber production line in Lianyungang by China National Building Material Group (CNBM), with Governor Liu Xiaotao attending the event. Zhou Yuxian, Chairman of the Board of CNBM , and Vice Governor Shen Jianrong attended and addressed the event.

As a strategically important new material, carbon fiber is crucial to breaking through bottlenecks in critical fields. The commencement of centralized operations of the three world’s largest high-performance carbon fiber production lines achieves full coverage across all categories, including general-purpose, high-strength, and high-modulus types, which will comprehensively support the development of China’s aerospace, high-end equipment, new energy, and other industries.

Zhou Yuxian stated that CNBM will resolutely implement the strategic plans for building China into a powerhouse of manufacturing and materials, with the core mission of achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and development. CNBM will continue its all-round, in-depth cooperation with Jiangsu Province in areas such as technological innovation, strengthening, supplementing, and extending industrial chains, and green and low-carbon development. Vice Governor Shen Jianrong stated that Jiangsu Province will fully support the development of the carbon fiber industry, promote the establishment of a regular communication mechanism between upstream and downstream sectors of the industry, build professional, open, and shared innovation platforms, implement demonstration projects on key technological breakthroughs and application, and generate exemplary landmark outcomes.

Officials attending the event jointly launched the high-performance carbon fiber production line and visited the production workshop.

Attendees included Academicians Peng Shou and Zhang Lianmeng of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, General Manager Chang Zhangli of CNBM, Secretary General Zhao Jianjun of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, and officials in charge from relevant departments and bureaus of national ministries and commissions; representatives from central state-owned enterprises, officials from relevant provincial departments and Lianyungang City, as well as representatives from member enterprises of CNBM and upstream and downstream customers.
