Coinciding with the 22nd China Maritime Day, Yangzhou hosted an investment promotion conference on high-tech shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment on July 11. Twelve shipbuilding and marine engineering projects were signed onsite, with a total investment of over 10 billion yuan. Additionally, eight shipbuilding contracts worth over 14 billion yuan were secured, including orders for 32 new vessels.

As one of Jiangsu’s three major shipbuilding bases alongside Nantong and Taizhou, Yangzhou has been recognized as an integral part of the national-level advanced manufacturing cluster. The city currently boasts 89 shipbuilding and marine engineering enterprises above the designated size, with an annual production capacity of eight million DWT. In 2025, Yangzhou continued to lead the province in new shipbuilding output, with the industry chain value surpassing the 50-billion-yuan threshold.

In the first half of 2026, in line with the “one-stop service” initiative, Yangzhou Maritime Bureau introduced comprehensive safety regulation guidelines for new shipbuilding. Supported by the bureau’s self-developed intelligent agent designed to streamline trial voyage procedures for new vessels, the city’s shipbuilding and marine engineering sector posted total invoiced sales of 21.8 billion yuan from January to May this year.
