Wuxi City Focuses on Building an “AI+” Benchmark City
updated on:2026-07-01 09:45

On June 25, Wuxi City held a press conference to systematically interpret the Outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan for Wuxi City, proposing to “build a benchmark city for the digital economy and AI+”, comprehensively advance industrial development and empowerment applications, and focus on building three major benchmarks for industries, scenarios, and factors.

Since the pioneering launch of the AI+ benchmark city development in 2025, Wuxi City has continuously strengthened its computing power foundation and achieved application in scenarios across various sectors. As of June 20 this year, Wuxis total intelligent computing power scale reached 15,619 P, with 44 industry-specific large models deployed and over 200 complete products cultivated, including intelligent robots and intelligent medical equipment. In industrial manufacturing, six national-level excellent smart factories have been built, and 18 typical scenarios for SME AI applications have been selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, ranking first in the province. Intelligent transformation has yielded tangible results in public service, transportation, healthcare, and culture and tourism. The Wuxi Government Large Model Public Service Platform was launched, along with 100 AI agents across four major fields, significantly improving work order processing efficiency. Traffic lights at intersections now achieve second-by-second adaptive tuning, increasing trunk road throughput efficiency by 20%. The primary-level medical AI agent Xi Xiao Yi has been deployed in communities, with AI-assisted thyroid ultrasound diagnosis accuracy exceeding 95%. New scenarios such as robot navigation and commentary, cultural heritage XR experiences, and AI-empowered intangible cultural heritage creation continue to emerge.

Looking ahead to the next five years, Wuxi has set a clear development path. To nurture industrial pace-setters, Wuxi aims to cross the 120-billion-yuan mark in the scale of the core AI industry by the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan, focusing on expanding the intelligent chip, intelligent computing power, and intelligent terminal industries, and building a leading hub for AI service output in China. To provide models in scenarios, Wuxi plans to build 500 AI + Manufacturing scenarios, 200 AI + Livelihood scenarios, and 200 AI + Governance scenarios in five years, promoting AI empowerment across hundreds of sectors. To strengthen the role of production factors, Wuxi aims to improve computing power scale to 20 EFLOPS by the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan, building 300 high-quality industry datasets, a computing power bank, and a token supermarket to lower the threshold and cost for enterprises in using computing power and models. Talent introduction and cultivation system as well as industrial financial support system will also be improved at the same time.
