The official website of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology released the Jiangsu Province Implementation Plan for “Artificial Intelligence + Manufacturing”. The plan outlines overall goals and 22 specific measures. By 2027, it aims to achieve full coverage of “AI + Manufacturing” diagnostics for all industrial enterprises above designated size in the province, promote the in-depth application of more than 10 industrial large models across various sectors, launch around 100 high-level industrial intelligent agents, build around 100 high-quality industry data sets, and select and cultivate no fewer than 100 AI application benchmarks. It also aims to guide and promote 10,000 or more basic-level or higher intelligent factories to conduct self-assessments of AI application scenarios, with approximately 5,000 advanced-level intelligent factories achieving over 20% coverage of AI scenarios, and around 100 excellence-level intelligent factories achieving over 50% coverage.

The plan proposes advancing the in-depth application of artificial intelligence across all stages of manufacturing, and empowering enterprises in R&D and design, production management, operations management, product services, and supply chain management, while outlining specific targets.

To accelerate the supply of industrial AI models and software products, the plan calls for breakthroughs in large and small models for specific industries, promotes the construction of high-quality industry data sets, encourages enterprises to establish chief data officers, and initiates pilot programs for building high-quality data sets in the industrial and information technology sectors across the province, aiming to build industry data resource libraries, technology libraries, standard libraries, and high-quality data set libraries. To enhance the supply capacity of key hardware and equipment, the plan proposes focusing on technological breakthroughs in foundational products such as high-efficiency computing chips and edge computing gateways, accelerating the development of the Jiangsu section of the Yangtze River Delta computing power cluster, and optimizing the layout of computing power data centers throughout the province.

In terms of optimizing the development ecosystem for AI empowerment in manufacturing, the plan proposes strengthening innovation platforms for AI empowerment, accelerating the construction of the National AI Application Pilot-Scale Testing Bases (Manufacturing Sector) in Nanjing and Suzhou, and promoting Wuxi’s establishment of a National AI Industry Innovation Application Pilot Zone.
