Revenue of Jiangsu’s Cultural Enterprises Above Designated Size Up 4.9% in Q1

In the first quarter of this year, cultural enterprises and related businesses above designated size (with annual main business revenue no less than 20 million yuan) in Jiangsu maintained steady recovery and strengthening growth momentum, generating a total operating revenue of 402.9 billion yuan, up by 4.9% year on year. Particularly noteworthy was the strong performance of emerging cultural business models. Sixteen representative sub-sectors associated with new cultural business models recorded a revenue of 113 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 10.6% and becoming a key driver of industry growth.

By sector, the core cultural sub-sectors delivered especially strong performance and led overall growth. In the first quarter, these sub-sectors generated an operating revenue of 192.7 billion yuan, up by 10.1% year on year. All major sub-sectors posted positive growth: revenue from news and information services, creative design services, cultural media distribution services, and cultural entertainment and leisure services increased by 18.9%, 16.8%, 12.7%, and 10.5% respectively, demonstrating strong industry vitality.

Culture-related industries maintained stable operations, achieving an operating revenue of 210.2 billion yuan in the first quarter, up by 0.7% year on year. Among them, cultural equipment manufacturing maintained steady growth, rising 4.2% year on year and continuing to provide solid support for the industrial chain. Overall, Jiangsu’s cultural industry achieved steady progress alongside structural optimization in the first quarter. The core cultural sub-sectors continued to strengthen, while emerging business models and new growth drivers gained momentum, providing fresh impetus for the province’s high-quality economic development.
