Forest trails serve as green corridors that connect people with nature, bridge urban and rural areas, and integrate ecological conservation with green development. Since 2022, forest trail development has been included for five consecutive years in the provincial government’s key public welfare initiatives. By the end of 2025, Jiangsu had built a total of 92 provincial-level forest trails spanning 655 kilometers, achieving full coverage across all 13 prefecture-level cities. These trails are designed to be accessible, high-quality, scenic, and beneficial to local communities. At the same time, Jiangsu has implemented the provincial standard Specifications for Forest Trail Construction, while public satisfaction has consistently remained above 95%.
Moving forward, the province will further optimize implementation plans, strengthen funding support, enforce strict quality standards, and clarify responsibilities at all levels. Follow-up inspections will be carried out on completed trails to ensure that every trail is well built, well managed, and continuously improved. Jiangsu will also accelerate the establishment of a long-term management and maintenance mechanism featuring clear accountability and broad public participation. In addition, the province will continue to expand the “Forest Trails+” initiative by developing new forms of nature education, forest wellness and rehabilitation, and outdoor recreation, while promoting deeper integration among agriculture, culture, tourism, and sports industries.
