updated on:2026-05-14 09:05

A press conference hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism announced that the main venue events for the 2026 International Museum Day (May 18) will officially open at Wuxi Museum on May 15. On opening day, nearly 200 themed activities in four major series jointly organized by museums across the province will be unveiled, alongside the opening of the second-season provincial touring exhibition Digital Charm of Jiangsu: Grand Exhibitions at Your Doorstep.

The launching ceremony will release Jiangsu’s signature museum events, key exhibition programs for 2026, and the first batch of collections from the Jiangsu Digital Cultural Relics Treasure Chest. Museums across the province will jointly launch nearly 200 themed activities grouped into four series: Appreciation, Learning, Elegance and Tour.

A major highlight of the event is the premiere of the second-season provincial touring exhibition Digital Charm of Jiangsu: Grand Exhibitions at Your Doorstep at Wuxi Museum. Themed “Rooted in Culture, Anchored in Cities, Embodied in Distinctive Charm”, the exhibition brings together precious cultural relics and digital resources from across Jiangsu, highlighting the Grand Canal culture, Yangtze River culture and local culture of Jiangsu. The touring exhibition will run for 15 months from this May to next August, covering all 13 prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu. Its 13 exhibitions are scheduled to coincide with primary and secondary school spring and autumn semesters, winter and summer vacations, major festivals, and matches of the Jiangsu City Football League. On the opening day, Wuxi Museum will present five premium exhibitions, including Footprints of Cuju: Exhibition on Football Culture. The museum will also host a themed sharing session entitled “Museums in the Era of Digital-Intelligent Hyperlinks”, during which the 2025 Annual Report on Digital Technology Application and Case Studies of Chinese Museums will be officially released.
