updated on:2026-04-30 08:35

According to the Provincial Forestry Administration, by the end of March, Jiangsu had completed afforestation and greening on 3,400 hectares of land, accounting for 51% of this year’s target of 6,667 hectares, successfully surpassing the halfway mark of its annual task.

The province has strengthened planning guidance, deepened the development of ecological landscape corridors in key areas along the Yangtze River and the coast, and continuously tapped the afforestation potential of saline-alkali land, barren hills, wasteland, and beaches. Since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the province has completed a cumulative total of 1.13 million mu of afforestation and greening.

As of April 14, the province had opened 445 sites for fulfilling voluntary tree-planting obligations to the public, a year-on-year increase of over 30%. It has organized 2,033 voluntary tree-planting events with nearly 300,000 participants, ranking fourth nationwide. In addition, Jiangsu has actively promoted the online-offline integration of the “Internet + Voluntary Tree Planting” initiative, adding 30 new provincial-level service points (reception points for fulfilling obligations) and bringing the total to nearly 200.

Zhu Mei, head of the Afforestation and Greening Management Division of the Provincial Forestry Administration, stated that moving forward, the province will steadfastly advance the implementation of the forestry development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period. Efforts will be made to ensure the fulfillment of afforestation tasks, enhance technical guidance and quality supervision, and strengthen the maintenance and management of newly planted forests to ensure the survival and thriving of every tree and tract planted.
