The “April 23 Nanjing Library Reading Festival and National Reading Week” at Nanjing Library was officially launched on April 19. It was learned at the event that during the inaugural National Reading Week, public libraries across the province will organize a total of 637 reading promotion events.
As the provincial public library, Nanjing Library has pooled quality resources to meticulously plan a series of featured activities, including classic book guides, thematic exhibitions, sharing sessions with renowned figures, youth reading classes, and caring services for special groups. The year 2026 marks the 145th anniversary of the birth of Lu Xun and the 90th anniversary of his death. The library’s Jiahui Lecture Hall will host several thematic lectures under the theme “Ideological Torch Across Eras: Appreciating Lu Xun’s Classic Works”. To commemorate the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March, Nanjing Library has orchestrated a national reading challenge titled “A Hundred Libraries Recommending Books for Province-wide Co-reading—Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Victory of the Red Army’s Long March”, a special exhibition of historical documents on the same theme, and 100 public screenings of Long March-themed films across the province.
At the event, the “Paper Document Detection, Preservation, and Utilization Laboratory”, jointly established by Nanjing Library, Nanjing Museum, the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Nanjing Tech University, and the College of Engineering at China Pharmaceutical University, was officially unveiled.
