Jiangsu Approved to Build China’s First Innovation Center of Advanced Water-Saving Technology for Water-Abundant Regions Under the Ministry of Water Resources

The National Water Resources Science and Technology Work Conference was held recently. It was learned from the conference that three achievements made in Jiangsu had won the 2025 Dayu Water Resources Science and Technology Award, two projects had been announced as major science and technology projects for 2025 by the Ministry of Water Resources, and at the same time, Jiangsu had been approved to build China’s first Innovation Center of Advanced Water-Saving Technology for Water-Abundant Regions under the Ministry of Water Resources.

The Innovation Center, led by the Jiangsu Hydraulic Research Institute in a joint application with institutions such as Hohai University, was qualified as one of the first national STI (science, technology and innovation) centers under the Ministry of Water Resources, becoming an integral part of the national water resources STI system. With a strong commitment to technological innovation and commercialization and industrialization of research results, the Innovation Center focuses on meeting the key technological needs in conservation and efficient use of water resources. In areas such as agricultural water-saving and efficiency enhancement, industrial water-saving and emission reduction, urban water-saving and loss reduction, development and utilization of unconventional water resources, and smart water-saving management, it promotes the deep integration of the innovation, industrial, and talent chains, spares no effort to cultivate new quality productive forces in water resources development, and provides solid technological support for advancing high-quality development of water resources and ensuring national water security.

In the near future, the water resources sector in Jiangsu will continue its efforts in areas such as building innovation platforms, developing major application scenarios, tackling key technological challenges, promoting the commercialization of research outcomes, and producing high-caliber professionals. This will accelerate the transition from research results to actual productivity, thereby empowering high-quality development of water resources in Jiangsu.
