Wuxi has recently held a city-wide mobilization meeting for the “Beautiful Wuxi” initiative and a new round of Lake Taihu comprehensive governance. This marks the 11th consecutive year when Wuxi has made green development and Lake Taihu governance the theme of its first major plenary meeting of the lunar new year. The move highlights Wuxi’s unwavering determination in ecological civilization construction and its commitment to building a world-class ecological lakefront city while accelerating a comprehensive green transition of its economy and society.

At the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Wuxi will focus on four key areas: carbon reduction transformation, pollution control breakthroughs, green space expansion, and growth empowerment. Iconic Lake Taihu governance projects will be further upgraded. The city will rigorously advance the “1+8” work plan for comprehensive Lake Taihu governance along with the 2026 list of key tasks and engineering projects. Efforts will focus on land-based source reduction, river assimilation and interception, and lake restoration and purification to ensure steady improvements in water quality and algae control, while consolidating integrated management systems for plants and networks, rainwater and sewage, and shorelines and waters.
