The 2026 China Biotech Innovation Conference opened in Suzhou Industrial Park on November 1. The 2026 Evaluation and Analysis Report on Competitiveness of Chinese Biomedicine Industrial Parks and the 2025 Ranking of China’s Biomedicine Industrial Parks by Competitiveness were released at the conference. Fourteen industrial parks in Jiangsu made it to the national Top 50, three of which entered the Top 10. Suzhou Industrial Park has secured the second place nationwide for five consecutive years.

Initiated by the China National Center for Biotechnology Development, the Report marks its 14th edition since 2013. It serves as an authoritative benchmark for measuring the development of regional biomedical industries. This year, the evaluation covered 186 parks that submitted valid questionnaires. Rankings were determined against five primary indicators: environment, industry, technology, talent and collaboration, together with 39 secondary indicators such as biomedical output value and its growth rate, R&D investment and R&D workforce.

Suzhou Industrial Park came second in the overall competitiveness rankings, trailing only the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone. It claimed the top spot nationwide in two sub-indicators: industrial competitiveness and collaboration competitiveness. Nanjing Biotech and Pharmaceutical Valley and Taizhou Medical High‑tech Zone also secured Top 10 spots in the overall competitiveness ranking, at 7th and 9th place respectively. With 14 parks in the national Top 50, Jiangsu continues to play a leading and exemplary role as a national hub for the biomedical industry.

Biomedicine stands as a key frontier in the global scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. Since implementing its biomedical strategy in 2006, Suzhou Industrial Park has attracted over 2,000 related enterprises and achieved an industrial output of RMB 175.5 billion in 2025.
