The list of winners for the 21st China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award was recently released, with the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville) National Highway No. 1 project, led by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) International, among the honorees.
Hailed as the “Oscars” of the industry, the China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award is the highest honor for technological innovation of engineering construction in civil engineering across China. The awarded National Highway No. 1 in the Republic of the Congo spans 536 kilometers from east to west, serving as an economic artery in the country. Over the course of eight years, the project team had overcome significant challenges such as complex terrain and harsh climatic conditions. Since opening to traffic in March 2016, the travel time between Pointe-Noire and Brazzaville has been reduced from one week to six hours. Affectionately called by the Congolese people as the “Dream Road”, this highway is witnessing the transport of more than 90% of the country’s essential imports and exports, effectively driving the local economic and social development.
Since its presence in Suzhou five years ago, CSCEC International has advanced the construction of various projects, including the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University (West Campus), Caixiang Wet Market, the high-standard factory of CSI Solar, Taihu Embodied Intelligence Industrial Park, Suzhou Sunac Snow World, and the renovation of old residential areas on Donghuan Road. In addition, it has facilitated more than 10 leading enterprises in Suzhou, such as DSBJ, in their entry into the Southeast Asian market, and completed the construction of more than 30 overseas industrial plants and supporting facilities, further reinforcing the sterling reputation of “China Construction”.
