As the national film market staged a steady recovery in 2025, data from the Jiangsu Film Bureau shows the province’s annual box office reached 4.712 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.23%, accounting for 9.09% of the national total. Movie admissions surpassed 114 million, up 21.28% year-on-year, representing 9.25% of the national total. In terms of both box office revenue and admission numbers, Jiangsu ranked second in the country, demonstrating robust vitality in cultural consumption.

Performance across the province’s prefecture-level cities showed significant improvement compared to 2024. Suzhou, Nanjing, and Wuxi maintained their positions as the top three contributors to the provincial box office, continuing to play a leading role. Notably, Xuzhou, Suqian, and Lianyungang saw impressive growth rates, with year-on-year increases of 34.30%, 32.20%, and 28.84% respectively. These were the top three growth rates in the province, reflecting the balanced development and potential of Jiangsu’s film market.
