Recently, the 14th Jiangsu Senior Citizens’ Spring Festival Gala, jointly hosted by the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, the Provincial Office on Aging, China Life Insurance Jiangsu Branch, and the Provincial Aging Association, was held at the Jiangsu Grand Theater. Vice Governor Chen Zhongwei attended the event.

The gala, themed “Silver Strength Shining in Spring”, adopted a three-tier selection model featuring county-level auditions, city-level performances, and a provincial showcase. The initiative sparked widespread participation among seniors across the province, attracting nearly 1,000 senior performance teams and more than 30,000 participants. After multiple rounds of selection, a number of high-quality programs distinguished by both artistic merit and meaningful themes came to the fore. At the provincial showcase, 15 outstanding performances took the stage, each highlighting unique strengths. The performances blended revolutionary traditions, intangible cultural heritage, and local folk customs through diverse artistic forms such as singing, dancing, and folk arts, presenting a rich and engaging cultural feast. As a cultural brand with a 14-year history in promoting active aging, the Jiangsu Senior Citizens’ Spring Festival Gala has become an important platform for showcasing the vibrant lives and cultural aspirations of the elderly. It has played a positive role in enriching seniors’ cultural lives, encouraging their social participation, and cultivating a society-wide climate of reverence and compassion for the elderly.
