updated on:2025-09-25 08:50

On September 18, members of the Vibrant China Research Tourmedia program visited Changzhou, which is now home to 47 Swiss-invested enterprises.

Mettler Toledo, a global leader in measurement and precision instruments, became the first foreign enterprise to invest in the city back in 1987, also marking the first foreign-funded company in China’s weighing instrument sector.

Changzhou’s recent achievements highlight its appeal. The second phase of the Sino-Swiss (Changzhou) International Industrial Innovation Park officially opened this month. With a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan, it aims to become a leading industrial park with international influence in the Yangtze River Delta.

The Swiss Center Changzhou, which began operations last year, is another key venue to facilitate cooperation. Located on the 4th floor of Gaoxin Plaza in Changzhou National High-Tech District, the center provides meeting rooms and an exhibition area showcasing Swiss consumer goods such as wine and hand cream, along with products from Swiss companies based in the park.

“Every month we host roadshow events for Swiss enterprises,” said Wang Yitian, Director of the Europe and America Division at the district’s Investment Promotion Bureau.

Changzhou has also won praise for its efficiency in supporting foreign investors. After completing registration in April 2023, The main factory building of Ypsomed’s production site finished construction in just 14 months.

According to statistics, as of June this year, a total of 456 enterprises from German-speaking countries had invested in Changzhou.
