From January to June, customs at Nanjing Lukou International Airport processed a total of 542 tax refund applications from departing overseas travelers, with the total amount reaching over 2.92 million yuan, representing year-on-year increases of 124.9% and 165.47%, respectively.

China’s departure tax refund policy allows overseas tourists to claim back value-added tax on eligible purchases made at designated tax refund stores before leaving the country.

Local customs has strengthened cooperation with tax authorities, banks, and other departments to streamline the refund process, such as providing multilingual services and consultation for travelers.
