updated on:2025-11-16 07:55

According to Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, six Jiangsu clusters were included in the latest 2025 (4th Batch of) 100 National Characteristic Industrial Clusters for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). They are: CNC Machine Tool Functional Components Industrial Cluster in Lishui District of Nanjing City, Industrial Collaborative Robot Industrial Cluster in Wujin District of Changzhou City, Simulated Fiber Materials Industrial Cluster in Wujiang District of Suzhou City, Offshore Wind Power Equipment Industrial Cluster in Rudong County of Nantong City, Flue Gas Treatment Equipment Industrial Cluster in Tinghu District of Yancheng City, and Low-Carbon Olefin Extended Functional Materials Industrial Cluster in Taixing. The list was finalized after preliminary review and recommendation by provincial-level competent departments for SMEs, expert evaluation, and public consultation, with a validity period of three years.

In 2022, the MIIT started to launch recognition of National Characteristic Industrial Clusters for SMEs. Adopting a “horse-race” mechanism, it identified clusters in counties led by SMEs with disctinct advantages, strong competitiveness and top national rankings in specific fields, so as to support the high-quality county-level economic development. The MIIT required that the clusters recognized in this batch further focus on their leading industries to improve the capacity of supporting key links in the industrial chain. Competent departments for SMEs at all levels are to formulate medium- and long-term development plans and special support policies for these clusters in their respective regions. Provincial  SME authorities should improve the gradient cultivation system for clusters and strengthen the tracking and evaluation of cluster development. The MIIT will organize the monitoring of cluster development and implement dynamic management of the recognized clusters.

Meanwhile, 97 clusters passed the re-examination of the 2022 (1st Batch of) Characteristic Industrial Clusters for SMEs, including five from Jiangsu, namely, Changshu Electronic Fluorine Materials Industrial Cluster, Liyang Power Battery Industrial Cluster, Intelligent Basic Components Manufacturing Industrial Cluster in Huishan District of Wuxi City, Safety and Emergency Industrial Cluster in Tongshan District of Xuzhou City, and Rail Transit Power Equipment Industrial Cluster in Yuhuatai District of Nanjing City.
