The 2025 World Manufacturing Convention recently opened in Hefei, where the China Enterprise Confederation released the Top 500 Chinese Manufacturers for the 21st consecutive year. Jiangsu secured 54 spots, ranking third nationwide after Zhejiang and Shandong.
Over the past year, the top 500 manufacturers reported an average R&D intensity of 2.45%, up 0.03 percentage point from the previous year. They held 1.6632 million valid patents, including 803,800 invention patents, year-on-year increases of 11.34% and 12.07%, respectively. Ratio of overseas revenue rose 0.87 percentage point to 19.10% of the total revenue. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China’s major manufacturers have achieved steady, long-term growth: the entry threshold of the top 500 manufacturers has risen from RMB 11.091 billion at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period to RMB 17.365 billion, while total operating revenue has grown from RMB 40.24 trillion to RMB 51.68 trillion and total assets from RMB 44.33 trillion to RMB 53.31 trillion.
Two Jiangsu companies broke into the national Top 10. Hengli Group ranked third with revenue of RMB 871.5 billion, and Shenghong Holding Group ranked 10th with RMB 565.6 billion. On the sub-ranking for R&D intensity, Chia-Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. came in third nationwide with an impressive 17.35%.
