On July 26, the Championship Finals of the 2024 Jiangsu University Students Innovation Competition, hosted by the Provincial Department of Education in collaboration with 11 other departments including the CPC Provincial Committee’s United Front Work Department, were held at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. This competition served as a platform to showcase the innovative and entrepreneurial achievements of university students, select and recommend outstanding projects, and facilitate the implementation and commercialization of high-tech, marketable, and socially beneficial innovations.

Since its launch this year, the competition has attracted 75,900 teams comprising 322,100 participants from 150 universities across the province. After rigorous selection processes, 376 projects advanced to the finals. In the end, the “Domestically-Made Leading High-Integration Millimeter-Wave AiP Module” project from Nanjing University of Science and Technology emerged as the champion. The “Development and Application of Repair Materials for Oral and Maxillofacial Defect” project from Nanjing Medical University secured the second place, while both the “Innovative Cultivation and Planting of Cedarwood Trees for Forestry Carbon Sink Public Welfare” project from Nanjing Forestry University and the “Leishi Technology Leading Advanced Radar Waveform Design” project from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics shared the third place.

The competition awarded a total of 220 first prizes, with 150 to the higher education sector, 40 to the revolution-themed tourism sector, and 30 to the industrial sector.

This year’s competition set a new record in terms of participant numbers and project submissions. It featured numerous high-quality and technologically advanced projects addressing major national needs, as well as many public welfare projects supporting rural revitalization. These innovations vividly demonstrated the enthusiasm, creativity, and daring spirit of Jiangsu’s university students.
