On March 28, Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and Xu Kunlin, Governor of Jiangsu, met in Nanjing with the visiting delegation from the Hong Kong Jiangsu Associations, led by founding president Henry Tang Ying-yen. Xin Changxing and Xu Kunlin, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed gratitude for the strong support that the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Hong Kong Jiangsu Associations, and all the fellow townsmen and friends have given to the development of Jiangsu over the years. Xin Changxing stated, “National security is the prerequisite for Hong Kong’s security and the well-being of our homes. Last week, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Legislative Council unanimously passed the National Security Law, successfully completing the legislation for Article 23 of the Basic Law, fulfilling a long-awaited common aspiration of the people, including the compatriots in Hong Kong. This marks an important milestone in the development of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ policy in the new era.” He praised the Hong Kong Jiangsu Associations for always adhering to their initial purpose of patriotism and love for Hong Kong, firmly supporting the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ policy and the Basic Law, and making positive contributions to maintaining Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability. Currently, Jiangsu is studying to put into action the guiding principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches, acting on the primary task of high-quality development, and accelerating the development of new quality productive forces in accordance with local conditions. This creates new opportunities and broad prospects for deepening exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong. Xin hopes that the Jiangsu compatriots in Hong Kong will continue to carry forward their fine traditions, leverage their strengths, and help to take the exchanges and cooperation in economic and trade, education, cultural, and scientific and technological innovation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong to new heights, jointly writing a new chapter of integrated development. The province is unwavering in its support for Hong Kong to maintain long-term prosperity and stability, continuously improve the development environment, and warmly provide better conditions for all fellow townsmen and friends from Jiangsu to innovate, start businesses, and realize their dreams.
