According to the latest data, from January to February this year, foreign trade container throughput in Taizhou reached 67,100 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 36.4%, a record high. Taizhou International Container Terminal of Taizhou Port along the Yangtze River completed a throughput of 56,000 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 24.9%. China Communications Construction (Xinghua) Port Development Co., Ltd. in Xinghua Port Area of inland river completed a throughput of 0.75 million TEUs, up by 220.7% year-on-year. Youlibo International Port Taizhou Co., Ltd. in Jiangyan Port Area of inland river completed a throughput of 3,600 TEUs, up by 79.6% year-on-year. All three figures reached the highest level since the opening of the port.

Local cargo accounts for about 85% of shipments made in Taizhou International Container Terminal, and the increasing throughput reflects the vigorous development of Taizhou’s “1+4” leading industries (“1” refers to the big health industry; “4” refers to marine equipment and high-tech ship industry, auto parts and precision manufacturing industry, chemicals and new materials industry, photovoltaic and lithium battery industry). “We strengthened cooperation with Shanghai Port, arranged more barges to engage in transporting cargo transferred from land transport, expanded the business of land-to-water cargo transfer in Taizhou Port, focused on expanding foreign trade customers in automobiles, photovoltaic and furniture industries, and 6,300 TEUs have been shipped via land-to-water cargo transfer. Efforts were made to optimize foreign trade routes. We adjusted the previous Taizhou-Wuhan-ROK foreign trade offshore route into a direct channel linking Taizhou and the ROK in collaboration with China Merchants Group and Sinotrans Limited, thus greatly improving the attractiveness of our services,” said Huang Jiaqing, General Manager of Taizhou International Container Terminal.

On March 7, SIPG’s ICT (Jiangyan Port) project was launched, integrating the port service of Shanghai Port into Taizhou’s inland port. As for online services, it has been directly connected to the information management service platform of SIPG, and realized the interconnection, joint-development and sharing between areas in the Yangtze River Delta and Shanghai in the field of port, so that the products made in Taizhou can be exported faster and more cost-efficiently.

This year, Taizhou proposed to encourage industrial parks to implement multimodal transport collection and distribution projects and support Xinghua Port and Jiangyan Port in building customs supervision offices. Wang Xi, deputy director of Taizhou Port and Shipping Development Center, said that the supporting policies for high-quality container transport development will be introduced, and supporting measures will be formulated in three aspects: optimizing the navigation route network, improving the service level of the industry, and increasing infrastructure investment to further reduce the logistics cost of enterprises and boost the rapid development of the “1+4” leading industries layout in Taizhou.
