Recently, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce held a symposium on Jiangsu’s economic undertakings related to foreign trade in Nanjing to implement the relevant decisions and requirements of the Jiangsu provincial conference on commerce and the national conference on foreign investment cooperation, summarize the situation of Jiangsu’s economic undertakings related to foreign trade in 2023, and study and arrange the key tasks in 2024. Sun Jin, Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce, attended and addressed the meeting. Responsible persons in charge of the bureaus of commerce of prefecture-level cities and responsible persons in charge of the divisions of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce attended the meeting.

The meeting pointed out that it is necessary to find a correct orientation for the work in the overall landscape, promote foreign investment cooperation, better serve the development of new quality productive forces according to local conditions, and accelerate the development of a two-way opening hub with international influence. At present, the international landscape is grim and complicated. It is necessary to better coordinate development and security, support and guide qualified enterprises to carry out foreign investment cooperation in a steady and orderly manner, actively participate in the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, integrate with the global industrial division of labor and cooperation, further strengthen the awareness and capacity of risk prevention, and continuously improve the capability of resource integration and operating in the international market. The meeting conveyed the spirit of the national conference on foreign investment cooperation, and studied the key tasks of promoting the innovation and development of foreign investment, improving the quality and efficiency of contracted projects in foreign markets, standardizing overseas labor cooperation, improving the level of international economic cooperation, strengthening the ability of risk prevention and safety control, and optimizing the ability of providing services and guarantee.

The responsible persons in charge of bureaus of commerce in prefecture-level cities of Jiangsu exchanged ideas and measures on economic undertakings related to foreign trade in 2023 and 2024 and put forward suggestions. The Division of Foreign Economy and Trade, the Division of Examination and Approval and the Investment Promotion Center of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce introduced the work in 2023 and key tasks in 2024.
