Ms. Xu and her two children landed at Nanjing Lukou International Airport via flight MU9798 around 3 pm on December 20, among the first Macao residents to arrive in Nanjing on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the People’s Republic of China.
Macao is one of Jiangsu’s key partners, with whom Jiangsu enjoys the longest history of cooperation. In recent years, Jiangsu and Macao have fostered stronger cooperative relations, complementing and benefiting each other with win-win results. At the moment, over 80 flights are scheduled every week serving between Macao and airports in cities ofJiangsu such as Nanjing, Wuxi, Changzhou and Nantong. Nanjing Lukou International Airport, the biggest one in Jiangsu, launched its first round-tripflight route to Macao as early as 1997. The number off air routes has now grown to three, accommodating more than 40 flights per week. On average, a bit over 800 passengers travel dailybetween Nanjing and Macao , contributing to closer personnel exchange between the two places.
According to Jiangsu General Station of Immigration Inspection, 52,100 visits and over 3,900 fights between Jiangsu and Macao have gone through the inspection since the beginning of this year, increasing by 8% and 4% year-on-year, respectively. To cope with the growing number of inbound-and-outbound visits, the inspection agency in Jiangsu took the initiative to work with airlines to deliver better guidance for passengers during peak hours. Besides, inspection processes were streamlined and guiding signs on-the-spot were updated to improve the efficiency of customs clearance.
