Jiangsu Releases the Statistics of its Tourism Market for the National Day Holiday

According to the monitoring data of Jiangsu smart culture and tourism platform, during the National Day holiday (00:00, October 1, 2024 to 16:00, October 7, 2024), a total of 38,837,400 tourist visits were registered in 638 A-class scenic areas, 195 provincial-level or above key villages of rural tourism, 45 provincial-level or above nighttime culture and tourism consumption clusters and 84 museums after removing overlapped data, and the total consumption made by tourists reached RMB 16.483 billion. According to a comparable basis, the daily average data increased by 4.23% and 4.55% year-on-year compared with 2023, and 26.14% and 26.97% higher over the same period in 2019.

UnionPay commercial data show that in the first six days of the National Day holiday, cross-regional culture and tourism consumption via UnionPay channels in Jiangsu reached RMB 15.35 billion, an increase of 2.56% year-on-year, accounting for 36.97% of the industry’s cross-regional consumption, accounting for 7.99% of country’s total culture and tourism consumption, still ranking first in the country. Data from Baidu, Meituan, Tongcheng Travel and Ctrip showed that the number of domestic tourists received by Jiangsu Province ranks second in the country, second only to Guangdong Province.

The international roaming data of mobile service provides show that during the first six days of the National Day holiday, a total of 47,200 inbound tourist visits were registered by 259 scenic areas above 4A level, an increase of 26.62% year-on-year. Inbound tourism consumption reached RMB 439 million, with a per capita consumption of RMB 16,000.

Nighttime culture and tourism consumption increased by a large extent. During the first six days of the National Day holiday, a total of 9,271,600 tourist visits were registered at 45 provincial-level or above nighttime culture and tourism consumption clusters, and the total amount of tourists’ consumption reached RMB 5.135 billion, an increase of 6.67% and 7.34%, respectively, compared with the year 2023. Nighttime culture and tourism consumption accounted for 31.15% of the total tourists’ consumption, an increase of 4.1 percentage points year-on-year.

During the first six days of the National Day holiday, the number of orders registered at 300 star-rated hotels in Jiangsu increased by 18.88% year-on-year, and the number of orders at 70 five-star hotels increased by 15.59% year-on-year. Scenic areas with large numbers of visitors were Nanjing Confucius Temple, Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum in Nanjing, Pingjiang Road Historical and Cultural Block in Suzhou, traditional gardens in Suzhou, Jinji Lake in Suzhou, Yunlong Lake in Xuzhou, and Pantao Mountain Buddhist Cultural Scenic Area in Xuzhou.
