Yancheng Launches Citywide Reading Campaign

Recently, Yancheng launched its “Nice Yancheng: Reading the City” campaign under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the organization of the Publicity Department of the CPC Yancheng Municipal Committee, the Literature and History Committee of the CPPCC Yancheng Committee and the Yancheng Cyberspace Administration.

The campaign features over 10 engaging activities themed on architectures, place names, and time-honored brands. Under the theme of “Reading Architecture: Layers of History”, activities include essay contests, photography competitions, lectures, and Citywalk tours, aiming to decode Yancheng’s architectural culture through its historical landmarks, contemporary masterpieces, and revitalized buildings.

“Tracing Place Names: Cultural DNA” focuses on exploring the origins of local place names, their preservation, local tourism development, and value enhancement. The campaign will compile a “Cultural Atlas of Yancheng Old Town Place Names”, promote place-name culture in schools and communities, release thematic tourism routes, and launch rural landmark initiatives with improved place name sign setups.

“Rediscovering Time-honored Brands: Stories of Everyday Life” encourages citizens and tourists to visit old-brand stores to have a taste of their classic and new products. The initiative promotes cross-industry collaborations, cultural creativity empowerment, and digital marketing for time-honored brands.

At the opening ceremony, the “Voice of Yancheng Inheritors” Youth Reading Program was also announced, which includes reading campaigns, study tours on ideological and political education, and cultural innovation design contests. The “Nice Yancheng: Reading the City” city-wide check-in campaign was simultaneously launched, where participants can log into the “My Yancheng” app to access a “City Treasure Hunt Map”.
