Recently, the General Office of China’s Ministry of Education (MOE) released the list of the fourth batch of universities approved to develop National Graduate Colleges for Elite Engineers, consisting of 10 universities, including three from Jiangsu, namely, Nanjing University, China University of Mining and Technology, and Jiangnan University.
Up to now, the MOE has released four batches of universities approved to develop National Graduate Colleges for Elite Engineers, consisting of 42 universities. Prior to this, Southeast University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Nanjing University of Science and Technology from Jiangsu had already been selected. With these three newly approved universities, Jiangsu now boasts six such universities, ranking among the top in the country in terms of quantity.
In addition, on December 10, the MOE issued and implemented the Accreditation Standards for Cultivation of Elite Engineers. As the world’s first accreditation standards on cultivation of masters and doctors of engineering, it has filled the gap in the international engineers cultivation accreditation system. Emphasizing systematic and organized cultivation, the Standards has established a whole-process evaluation system that fits China’s national conditions and meets industrial demands through college accreditation. This will facilitate the connection between cultivation standards and professional qualifications of engineers, and empower their lifelong career development.
