As the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) marked its third anniversary on January 1, Nanjing Customs District issued 310,000 RCEP certificates of origin from 2022 to 2024 for exports valued at around 98.9 billion yuan, ranking first nationally.

Chang Chun Chemical (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., located in Changshu City, has obtained the authorization from customs authorities to independently issue the certificate of origin under the RCEP agreement, greatly enhancing its export efficiency. On January 3, Shi Mengdan, a business manager at the company, printed an RCEP certificate of origin for chemical products valued at 250,000 yuan. “Over the past three years, we have independently issued 657 certificates of origin, enabling our customers to enjoy tariff reductions totaling 4 million yuan," Shi said.

On January 6, a shipment of aluminum foil worth 4.4 million yuan imported from Japan was cleared at Nantong Customs House. "This batch of goods, accompanied by the RCEP certificate of origin, benefited from tariff cuts at customs," said Sun Yining, customs affairs manager of Sakai Aluminum (Nantong) Corporation.

Since the implementation of RCEP, the tariff for aluminum foil imports from Japan has decreased from 6% to 3.8%. It is expected to gradually decrease to zero tariffs within ten years, significantly reducing cost and enhancing profits, according to Sun.
