The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Natural Resources recently released the 2024 Annual Report on the Development Jiangsu’s Maritime Economy, marking the seventh consecutive year of this annual provincial “Maritime Economy Blue Book”.
The report provides a comprehensive overview of the macroeconomic climate for the maritime economy in 2023 and the overall development of Jiangsu's maritime economy. It delves into the current status of key maritime industries in Jiangsu and offers a detailed assessment of the maritime economy’s performance in the three coastal cities and seven cities along the Yangtze River.

New shipbuilding orders have increased substantially, with the three major shipbuilding indicators – orders, output, and completions – and export volume ranking first nationwide. Furthermore, the clustering of maritime shipbuilding industries continues to advance. Maritime engineering equipment manufacturers are demonstrating steadily increasing independent innovation capabilities, achieving technological breakthroughs in high-end maritime equipment, and accelerating their transition from keeping pace to leading the pack.
The maritime tourism sector displays a robust recovery, repeatedly setting new records across various metrics. The sector exhibits a positive trend of steady recovery and accelerated full revitalization across the province. The three coastal cities have implemented a series of promotional activities for cultural and tourism consumption and subsidy programs, further stimulating the rapid recovery of maritime tourism. Maritime transportation has seen steady progress, underscored by a significant increase in the proportion of green transportation and the rapid development of green and low-carbon ports.
