Jiangsu is taking faster steps to secure its first-mover advantage in future industries into whose potentials will be further tapped. Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission recently released a list of locations where the trial program for developing the pioneering cluster of future industries would take place, aiming to build a number of clusters of future industries with core competitiveness.
The list reveals 21 locations across the province including Nanjing, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Changzhou, Suzhou, Nantong and Taizhou, where pilot programs for developing 12 industrial sectors such as the third-generation semiconductors, cell and gene technologies, synthetic biology, general intelligence, virtual reality, humanoid robots, low-altitude economy, hydrogen energy, new energy storage, deep sea, deep interior, and deep space, future networks, and quantum technologies will be carried out.
The locations were chosen based on local industrial strength and competitiveness. For instance, Pukou District of Nanjing and Wujiang District of Suzhou are selected for the low-altitude economy trial program; Xinwu District of Wuxi and Jiangning District of Nanjing are for the third-generation semiconductors; Wujin District of Changzhou and Zhangjiagang of Suzhou are for the hydrogen energy; while the Hi-tech Zone of Xuzhou is for the pilot program of the deep-interior industry. To develop new quality productive forces faster, all these localities have made plans in advance to galvanize the future industries. Statistics show that the total revenue of nearly 1,700 core future industry enterprises in Jiangsu exceeds 500 billion yuan. In this regard, Jiangsu is taking the lead in China factoring in its fast development and industrial scale and strength.
