The 2024 Conference for “Cross-Border E-commerce + Industrial Belt” Exchange and Cooperation was recently held in Suqian City. It is estimated that the 19 projects signed during the conference, once completed and delivered, will create an annual trade volume of cross-board e-commerce of RMB 1 billion.

In recent years, Suqian has taken great store by e-commerce development, in a bid to raise its competitiveness through improving city functions and cultivating new growth drivers. It is the first city in Jiangsu where services of national-level and provincial-level “e-commerce counties” are delivered to every corner. The number of “Taobao Villages” has topped the province for many years. Business of 30,000 e-commerce companies, such as JD and Xiaomi, has been thriving, as the trade volume, online retail sales, express delivery volume, and express delivery revenue have maintained a double-digit growth for 10 years in a row. Suqian has been awarded eight national honors such as China Demonstrative City of Express Delivery. Known for its booming e-commerce, the city is gaining greater popularity.

Since Suqian was approved to establish China (Suqian) Comprehensive Pilot Zone of Cross-border E-commerce in April 2020, it has developed an efficient and well-equipped ecosystem that accommodates the agglomeration of cross-border e-commerce platforms and business entities. The cluster of businesses grew by 20% or more in size annually, and the annual cross-border e-commerce trade volume increased by over 25% year-on-year. Thirty-seven couriers were delivered to all over the world per second on average. The Pilot Zone has met the second-tier standard by national appraisal for two years. The cross-border trade volume is expected to have exceeded RMB 10 billion by 2026.

Since the beginning of this year, Suqian has been making great efforts in cultivating new business models of cross-border e-commerce. Five competitive industrial belts of cross-border e-commerce worth RMB 100 million each have been developed, including wooden products of Shuyang County, textile and garments of Siyang County and Sucheng District and automobile components of Sihong County. Over 100 e-commerce product brands and regional brands, including Bawang Xie (king crab), Jiu Si Xian (fresh produce) and He Hua Cun (lotus village), have been created, and more than 50 cross-border e-commerce export brands are incubated every year.
