16 Jiangsu Projects Win Top Award in National Breakthrough Technology Competition

From Feburary 22-March 6, 16 projects from Jiangsu, including the project of Perovskite Photovoltaic Technology for Spacecraft by Yangtze Delta Institute of Optoelectronics of Peking University in Jiangsu Province and the project of Clinical Dopaminergic Hypotype Neurone for Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease by Xellsmart, were awarded the top Prize of Excellence in the finals of the National Breakthrough Technology and Innovation Competition 2022 hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China. The number of award-winning projects was the most in the country. These awarded projects will be recommended and incorporated into the MOST’s inventory of breakthrough technologies.  

The National Breakthrough Technology and Innovation Competition is an important platform to discover, identify and select breakthrough technologies. Launched in July 2022, this year’s competition attracted the participation of more than 2,800 technological projects of key universities, well-known research institutes, and leading enterprises. 157 projects were shortlisted for the finals, and 74 projects won the Prize of Excellence of the finals.

Jiangsu has organized innovation projects of enterprises, universities and research institutes in the province to participate in the competition for two consecutive years, discovering a number of strategic and forward-looking breakthrough technological projects. The project of R&D and Industrialization of Transparent Ferroelectric Monocrystal with Ultra-High Voltage Performance by Suzhou Sicui Electronics Functional Materials Research Institute Corporation Limited won a prize in the First Competition and has received 10 million yuan worth of special-purpose funds for national breakthrough technology and innovation, which is a key R&D plan of the MOST.
