During the Chinese New Year holiday, scenic spots across Jiangsu became bustling and crowded again. Popular spots were packed with tourists, signaling a good start for a prosperous cultural and tourism market in the new year. Over the period, Jiangsu has hosted 41.3501 million persons/times of domestic tourists, up by 21.8% year-on-year, which saw a 21.3% growth on the basis of that in 2019. Domestic tourism revenue stood at 28.229 billion yuan, up by 20.6% year-on-year, growing by 0.6% against that in 2019.

Recovery in the cultural and tourism market was stoked by a variety of preferential measures such as free tickets. All gardens in Suzhou during the Chinese New Year holiday were free to visit. In the first five days of the holiday, gardens in Suzhou have hosted more than 760,000 persons/times. The 14 gardens under the jurisdiction of Suzhou Landscaping Administration have seen over 100,000 tourists each day.

During the holiday, large waves of tourists appeared in major scenic areas. Nine scenic spots at or above 4A grade have altogether hosted 1.1923 million persons/times with a total revenue of 140 million yuan, up by 17.27% and 11.11% respectively, compared with those before the pandemic in 2019. Tourist resorts under Suqian Cultural and Tourism Group such as Xinsheng Street, Zaohe Longyun Town, Lord Xiang Yus Home and Jiangsu Santaishan National Forest Park have hosted 430,300 visitors, reaching a historical record high.

Domestic long-haul tourism routes have witnessed strong recovery. According to statistics released by Tongcheng Toursim, domestic flight booking via the platform has gone up by 129% over the new year holiday period in 2019, and train ticket booking up by 18% over 2019.
