The per capita disposable income of Suzhou residents reached RMB 22,143 in the first quarter

In the first quarter of this year, Suzhou City has effectively coordinated epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, implemented a number of policies to benefit enterprises and the people, and made every effort to promote stable and orderly economic operation, continuing to protect and improve people’s wellbeing.

Data show that in the first quarter, the per capita disposable income of residents in Suzhou reached RMB 22,143, an increase of RMB 1,126 or 5.4% over the same period last year. In the first quarter, the total income of residents in Suzhou was 1.34 times that of the whole province (RMB 16,490) and 2.14 times that of the whole country (RMB 10,345), continued to rank first among the 13 cities under the Jiangsu provincial government. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19, the growth rate of residents’ income in the first quarter slowed down.

Divided by residence, the per capita disposable income of urban residents was RMB 24,241, an increase of RMB 1,123 over the previous year, and a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. The per capita disposable income of rural residents was RMB 15,701, an increase of RMB 952 over the previous year, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. From the perspective of the four types of income, wage income grew steadily, with a small increase in its proportion; transfer income was less affected by the epidemic, and its growth rate maintained a good momentum; net operating income and net property income were both affected by the epidemic.

In the first quarter, the per capita transfer income of residents in Suzhou was RMB 3,165, an increase of RMB 211 or 7.1% over the same period of the previous year. Compared with other types of income, its growth rate was relatively fast, driving the per capita disposable income to increase by 1.0 percentage point.

In addition, in the first quarter, the per capita net property income of residents in Suzhou was RMB 2,983, an increase of 98 yuan over the same period of the previous year, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, and its growth rate was only 0.3 percentage points higher than the per capita net operating income; the per capita net operating income of residents in Suzhou reached RMB 1,966, an increase of RMB 58 over the same period of the previous year, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%.
