In a bid to further promote exchanges between Jiangsu and Japan in innovation as well as the docking between China-Japan (Suzhou) Development Cooperation Demonstration Zone and sci-tech resources of Japan, Jiangsu Center of International Technology Transfer and Japan Science and Technology Agency jointly launched a technology matchmaking webinar on new materials on March 23 in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou. This event, supported by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Suzhou Xiangcheng District, marked the first ever project docking in the field of sci-tech innovation between Jiangsu and Japan this year.

Zhao Yangwei, Director of the Division of International Cooperation of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, expressed his appreciation for the all-round cooperation between China and Japan, including joint research, technology cooperation, and talent exchanges. He hoped to see better understanding and deepened cooperation between Jiangsu—a manufacturing powerhouse and Japan after this meeting, given the complementarity and potential for cooperation in sci-tech innovation and industry between the two sides.

Kurogi Sinichi, director of the Asian Affairs Division of Japan Science and Technology Agency, was pleased with this chance for technology exchanges with Jiangsu enterprises despite the influence of COVID-19. He hoped to see the settlement of more Japanese projects after this meeting, and was more than willing to work with Jiangsu department in charge of science and technology to jointly promote sci-tech cooperation between Japan and Jiangsu.

Japan Science and Technology Agency, in response to the need of Jiangsu enterprises, invited five experts in the field of materials for technical roadshow. 50 enterprises from Xiangcheng Districts and across Jiangsu attended the meeting while the online live broadcast attracted newly 3,000 viewers. The Q&A session witnessed enthusiastic interactions between guests and audience. Quite a number of enterprises showed great interests to the projects of “biodegradable plastics formed at room temperature” and “heat sink laser resin welding method” in the fields of environment-friendly new materials. Jiangsu Center of International Technology Transfer will follow up with the exchanges between Jiangsu enterprises and the Japanese side.
